About RTAG
Advisors who also build.
We help businesses make sound software and AI decisions, then help carry them out.
Who we are
Rasmussen Technical Advisory Group is a small, senior firm. The people who scope your work are the people who do it. We keep solutions proportionate: sometimes that means writing code, sometimes buying a product, sometimes leaving things alone.
How we think
Defaults, not rules. Each case gets its own look.
Right-size the stack
Four engineers do not need Kubernetes.
Count the full cost
Building includes maintaining.
Diagnose before hiring
Check the deploy process before adding developers.
AI starts with your data
The value is in your data and processes, not the demo. We build for that.
Leave good systems alone
"It’s fine" is a valid recommendation.
Build when it is faster
A small, well-defined integration is quicker to just write.
About the founder
James Rasmussen founded RTAG. A former CTO who still writes production code as a staff software engineer, James cares as much about what is worth building as how to build it. RTAG is built on one idea: technical advice should end in a decision and a next step.
